ChatAspen – Support
Email [email protected]. We reply within 2 business days.
Set-up in five steps
- In Google Chat open the space, click its name → Apps & integrations → Webhooks → Add webhook. Name it (for example "Jira") and copy the URL.
- In Jira go to Settings → Apps → ChatAspen – Google Chat.
- Click New rule. Name it, choose projects (or leave empty for all) and tick the events you want.
- Paste the webhook URL and press Send test message. A test card appears in the space.
- Press Create rule. From now on matching Jira events post into that space, one thread per issue.
Common problems
The test message fails with HTTP 404 or 400. The webhook was deleted or the URL was pasted incompletely. Create a new webhook in Google Chat and paste the whole URL including key= and token=.
Cards arrive but every one starts a new thread. The space has threading turned off. In Google Chat, space settings → turn on "Use threaded replies".
An edit to an issue took a while to show up. Edits to the same issue are grouped for 20 seconds so one card lists all changes. Created, comment and assignment cards are immediate. If a grouped card is more than a few minutes late, contact us.
A rule shows "Disabled – Webhook rejected 5 times". Google rejected the webhook five times in a row, usually because it was deleted. Edit the rule, tick Replace webhook URL, paste a new one, test, save, then enable the rule again.
"Invalid JQL". The rule's JQL no longer parses, often because a field was removed. Edit the rule, press Validate JQL and fix the query. A trailing ORDER BY is removed automatically.
"The free plan includes one enabled rule". ChatAspen is free for one rule. Upgrade in Jira → Apps → Manage apps to enable more. Rules beyond the first show as "Inactive – free plan" until then.
What to include when you write to us
Your Jira site URL, the rule name, the time of the event, and the issue key. The delivery log (the Log button next to the rule) usually shows the exact HTTP status Google returned.
